About Albany Orchid Society Inc.
Founded by an enthusiastic group of growers and volunteers in 1981, the Albany Orchid Society Inc. is keen to promote the culture of orchids in the Albany area.
We are a friendly and enthusiastic group who welcome new members.
Our activities include monthly meetings , guest speakers and nursery visits.
Each year we hold shows in Winter and Spring where members compete for prizes and trophies and are able to sell their plants.
We also hold other displays celebrating special events such as Easter, Mother’s Day and the annual Albany Agricultural Show. Orchids can be purchased at these events.
Upcoming Events
Founded in 1981 the Albany Orchid Society Inc. has promoted the culture of orchids in Albany district for more than forty years. Monthly meetings are a great opportunity to learn about growing orchids, our many experienced growers are keen to share their knowledge with visitors and new members. We hold in-house competitions each month where members show off their flowering orchids forming a beautiful display and share tips on how they grow their orchids.
Monthly Morning Teas: members also catch up between meetings for coffee and cake at one of Albany’s local cafes each month.
Meetings are held at 2pm on the 4th Sunday of the month (2nd Sunday in July) at The Albany Bridge Club, Mill St, Albany (see map below).
The Shed
The club runs “The Shed”: a service where members can buy items relevant to orchid cultivation that are not readily available in local hardware stores.
The Shed is located at 4 Bronte St Albany and is run by Ron Panting for the Club. Please view the Price List for more details.
